"Pulling the plug on free prescriptions" - Jenny Randerson Comment

Commenting on national newspaper reports that Wales will "pull the plug" on free prescriptions, Welsh Lib Dem Health Spokesperson, Jenny Randerson AM said:

"This seems like an odd story to me, but is absolutely illustrative of the huge arguments between Labour in Westminster and Labour in Wales. UK Labour, and particularly English Health Ministers recognise that free prescriptions for all have led to a disaster in Wales, with people claiming things they would normally pay just a few pence for over the counter. I believe that free prescriptions should only be available to those who can not afford to pay and those on regular medication to cope with debilitating illnesses. That would be fair. The current system, as recognised by Whitehall, is not, particularly in these times of constrained budgets."
