Cardiff and Vale Trust cuts - Jenny Randerson comment

3.01.00pm BST (GMT +0100) Wed 11th Jun 2008

Commenting on the news of £30m of proposed cuts to spending by Cardiff and Vale NHS Trust, Welsh Liberal Democrat Health Spokesperson, Jenny Randerson AM said:

"This shows the way that resources have tightened in recent months. I am deeply concerned that the Trust is being forced to consider cuts to recruitment of frontline staff. This will inevitably impact heavily on patient care. Cuts in staff training are also worrying.

What sort of society are we creating when we are forcing our NHS to set up Credit Cards to raise income? Everyday we are seeing more evidence of the need for the Government to prioritise their funding on frontline care rather than on gimmicks like free paracetomol for millionaires."
