NHS Redress Measure passes first stage - Randerson comment11.59.00am GMT Tue 29th Jan 2008
Cardiff Central AM and Welsh Liberal Democrat Health Spokesperson, Jenny Randerson has today commented on the passing of the first stage of an Assembly Measure designed to ensure easier patient redress for problems experienced in the NHS. Jenny Randerson said: "This is a fairly momentous event, despite it's quiet passing. This is the first time an Assembly Measure has reached this stage. "There are some very clear concerns about the way that WAG has handled this process so far and this has been reflected in the Committee's recommendations. "While we welcome any proposal to make the lives of patients better, the Government did not provide nearly enough background detail on the policy behind their proposals. "Fortunately, the Minister has given enough reassurances that the detail will be provided in the next stage to convince the Assembly to move forward today. I hope that the Government give more thought to future Measures that they want to introduce. Notes: 1. Jenny Randerson AM is a member of the Committee tasked with scrutinising the proposed Measure.
