"After the Rugby World Cup Quarter Final being held at the Millennium Stadium on Saturday October 6th the last train from Cardiff to London leaves just 30 minutes after the game kicks off leaving us with the prospect many fans from around the world ending up stranded.

"As the Assembly Member for Cardiff Central I am obviously keen that Cardiff should be seen as the cutting edge European City that it is, flexible to the needs of major sporting events.

"I think additional trains at the end of the game are essential if we are to avoid the chaos and bad publicity which has followed similar events in the past when no extra trains have been provided.

"I have for the last week been in contact with the Council, the WRU, Network Rail and First Great Western to resolve the issue but you have to ask yourself how we repeatedly end up in this situation? The Labour Government has been in charge of the transport system for the past 10 years."
