Randerson Concerned at Loss of Trolley Service from UHW

4.28.08pm BST (GMT +0100) Tue 10th Apr 2007

The Women's Royal Voluntary Service (WRVS) are looking to withdraw their services from the University Hospital including the trolley service which has been going for 35 years.

Jenny Randerson AM, Health Spokesperson for the Welsh Liberal Democrats said "The 5 volunteers that run the trolley shop have over 50 years experience, they were devastated to be told last week that the WRVS were closing all the projects at UHW.

"As a whole the projects are not making enough money although the important Trolley shop is. I will be signing their petition as soon as I can in the hope that people's hospital stays can continue to be as pleasant as the WRVS make them.

"The elderly and those patients with no visitors will miss the service most and I am pleased that Cardiff and Vale NHS Trust seem keen to find a solution."
