Randerson Backs Transplant Campaign

UK Transplant launches its first large scale mail drop in to April, inviting more than 275,000 households in Cardiff, Newport and Swansea to join the NHS Organ Donor Register (ODR).

Jenny Randerson, AM for Cardiff Central, is backing the campaign, which aims to make it more convenient for those who want to pledge the gift of life to join ODR.

She said: "Thanks to the generosity and kindness of donors and their families thousands of people needing a transplant get a second chance every year.

"Sadly though, there is still a desperate shortage of organ donors, and last year more than 400 people died waiting for the transplant that could have transformed or saved their life.

"That is why I am supporting UK Transplant's mail drop, and I hope that those wanting to help others live by donating their organs for transplant when they die take this life saving opportunity to join the register."
