Plans have been submitted for a range of day clinic services to be placed on the site of the Cardiff Royal Infirmary. The plans are part of a wide ranging review of hospital services in Cardiff.

Cardiff Central AM Jenny Randerson said "I welcome the fact that these plans are being put forward. They are long overdue. It is a scandal that it has cost £60,000 per annum to keep this resource lying idle for so many years.

"When I see the details of the plans I will be looking for a wide ranging flexible health use for the site as part of a modern health strategy. This could be an important step in modernising health services in Cardiff in line with the Welsh Liberal Democrat vision of 'health hubs' where a range of health services complement one another in line with the needs of the local community."
