JENNY RANDERSON LAUNCHES A PETITION AGAINST WESTERN POWER DISTRIBUTION BULLYING LOCAL RESIDENTS

5.05.00pm GMT Sat 9th Dec 2006

Jenny Randerson, the Welsh Liberal Democrat Assembly Member for Cardiff Central has started a petition condemning the strong arm tactics being used by Western Power Distribution (WPD) against residents who opposed their plans to build on Llanishen Reservoir.

WPD have told the council that if they lose the Public Inquiry over whether houses should be built on part of the reservoir, then the whole thing will be drained. Resident's views have been strongly represented by the Reservoir Action Group (RAG), a cross party community organisation with members across Cardiff and beyond

Jenny Randerson AM commented, "We are used to the aggressive tactics that WPD have employed throughout this lengthy saga. However, this latest threat has led me to wonder whether a large commercial company really wants the bad publicity they are getting."

"So, just in case the bosses at WPD are unaware of what is going on here in Cardiff, I decided it was time to launch a petition which I will send to the Directors of the Company, not to their local representatives."

"I'm inviting all residents to sign a petition condemning the "strong-arm" tactics being employed by WPD, on my new website at www.jennyranderson.com."
