Randerson Expresses Regret at Dairy Job Losses

3.42.08pm GMT Mon 30th Oct 2006

'Dairy Farmers of Britain' announced today the acquisition of Golden Vale's Bridgend Dairy and the closure of its Cardiff Dairy with a net loss of 50 jobs. Fortunately many jobs will be transferred to Bridgend rather than lost altogether.

Responding to the news that 50 jobs will be lost in Cardiff as a result of the consolidation Cardiff AM Jenny Randerson said "I regret that the jobs could not be kept in Cardiff but the dairy industry is highly competitive and it is important to maintain a healthy dairy industry in the region. I just hope that staff affected by the redundancies will be adequately supported and informed in their transition to alternative employment."
