Jenny Randerson - Standing up for Cardiff Central

Comment on stolen bones

12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Thu 21st Sep 2006

Commenting on the news that stolen bones from the USA have been used in operations in three Cardiff hospitals Welsh Liberal Democrats health spokesperson Jenny Randerson has called for patients to be informed as a matter of urgency.

She said: "I'm gravely concerned by this matter and will be writing to the hospitals concerned and the Minister to find out how this happened. I understand that in the US, advice was given that patients should be informed, but in the UK it was left up to the hospitals to decide.

"I appreciate that the risk of contamination is relatively small and probably not a matter for concern, but information is the least patients deserve."
