Relief at Llanishen NewsWritten by Jenny Randerson AM and published in Cardiff Post on Thu 30th Aug 2007 The campaign to save Llanishen and Lisvane reservoirs from development has won another victory. The developers WPD have lost their first Planning Appeal. The Independent Planning Inspector rejected their appeal on virtually every count. I have read many Inspector's Reports over the years but I can't remember one which has been so strong in rejecting all the main arguments put forward by the developers. This is certainly not the end of the fight. There have been subsequent planning applications, and we expect that there will be at least one more appeal. We also have the Village Green inquiry which is due to resume in February. But this Inspector's Report is a major battle won in this long drawn out 'war'. As an Assembly Member I spend a lot of my time taking up causes for constituents. Sometimes it is a matter that is important to only a few but often it's an issue of relevance to lots of people - availability of the new cancer drugs and so on. One way or another me and my team are always fighting causes, pressing complaints and taking up issues. Often we win but on the odd occasion we lose so it really made my week when a constituent rang my mobile while I was on holiday to give me the good news about the outcome of the Planning Appeal on the Reservoirs.
